A beautiful sunny day for a change and a wonderful turn-out of 17, including new volunteer Kay, at the workparty this morning in the Sensory Garden, so we were able to accomplish virtually everything we set out to do today. The main aim was to clear the Plantain from the bed alongside the mural. No easy task, but our volunteers are a force to be reckoned with and did a brilliant job as always
Meanwhile a 2nd team were up on the top of The Rockery planting some donated Osmanthus and Ilex shrubs that we have been looking after during the summer months, waiting for some cooler weather to give them all a better chance of establishing.
A 3rd team went over the bed we cleared of Plantain two weeks ago and dug out any that had sneaked through the net and were still growing. They then popped ia few donated Salvia jamensis into the border, as part of our effort to provide support to the wild flowers that will be coming through ready for next Spring.
Les edged up the borders and went back in the afternoon to mow around the beds. Good man!
What a blessing the waterbutt is. Thank you Zoe and Exmouth Town Council for organising this for us and to EDDC for allowing the installation.
Thanks too to Streetscene for collecting the blue bags of gardening waste to go to be recycled.
We certainly deserved the cuppa afterwards in the Pavilion Cafe.
